For officers working on Christmas day…

HONEYDEW – Help raise funds for Christmas lunch for Honeydew police officers on duty on Christmas day.

Honeydew Community Policing Forum has started raising funds for Honeydew police officers who have to be on high alert on Christmas day.

The initiative, introduced in 2004 at the station, collects money and buys meals for on-duty officers to show them how valued they are by the community, according to the forum’s public relations officer, Jon Rosenberg, who is spearheading the campaign.

“It’s a small token of appreciation from the public to police members on duty on Christmas day when most people are with family and friends. It’s a thank you to the members,” Rosenberg said.

He added that the project had been a success and he was the contact person for any form of donation. “We have donations of all amounts given towards this project. After all the funds are in, we arrange meals and ensure they are delivered on the day.”

Contact Rosenberg on 082 450 2305 for donations or related inquiries.
