National Bavarian Cream Pie Day

Enjoy a creamy dessert on #NationalBavarianCreamPieDay

27 November is celebrated annually across the world as National Bavarian Cream Pie Day.

Bavarian Cream Pie is made by pouring Bavarian Cream, which is also called crème bavaroise, into a baked pie crust and refrigerating it. Cream pies are a favourite dessert of many and Bavarian cream pie is gourmet in taste and presentation. This pie is often garnished with shavings of chocolate, chocolate sauce and whipped cream.

Marie-Antoine Careme, a French chef, is credited with the invention of the Bavarian cream pie. Originally it was a gelatin-based pastry cream, served in gourmet restaurants and luxury hotels in the early 19th century in France.

To celebrate this day, invite your friends and family to enjoy some Bavarian cream pie with you. Look online, or page through some recipe books and try your hand at making a home-made pie. If you are not feeling that adventurous, support your local bakery and buy a delicious Bavarian cream pie to share.
