More surprises for ‘Project Ou Toppie’

This project would not have been possible without the community who opened their hearts to help other people's fathers and grandfathers.

The Roodepoort Athletics Club has hosted its last time trials for 2016. What makes the event even more special is that the runners dropped off the ‘Ou Toppie’ bags they donated.

The running club has been part of the initiative from day one and has been working hard to collect bags to contribute to the project. With the club’s help, the number of bags collected reached an amazing 161.

That was until members from the International Police Association (IPA) Johannesburg Region stopped at the Record’s offices to drop off their surprise. The IPA is an international, independent, apolitical body made up of members of police services, whether serving or retired, and without distinction as to rank, sex, race, colour, language or religion. The purpose of the IPA is to create bonds of friendship and to promote co-operation amongst its members and other police services. The surprise was 10 more ‘Ou Toppie’ bags, which brings the number of bags collected to a staggering 171.

This project would not have been possible without the community who opened their hearts to help other people’s fathers and grandfathers.

The Record team would like to expresses their gratitude to various sports and motorbike clubs who informed their members about the project and the benefits of giving back to those less fortunate.
