An initiative to bring live, original rock music to the Roodepoort Thearte kicked off on Friday, 18 November. Four bands, The Cosmic Strange,Amber Light Choices, Burning Blue and Last Chance Seattle performed in the first edition of the initiative, entitled ‘Lets Be Friends’.
The initiative was started by Neo Galaxy, who want to promote rock music. Neo Galaxy’s Siphelele Zulu said their aim is to get the community to support rock shows and expose the genre to those who might not listen to it.
“We want to get rock music out of bars and pubs and into places such as the Roodepoort Theatre where fans will be treated to explosive musicians. We want to own our events and bring the music to the community,” he said.
The ‘Lets Be Friends’ initiative will be looking to host more shows at the theatre and making their music more accessible to the public.
