Laerskool Generaal De La Rey has selected its head prefects for 2017, and made them known the school’s recent prize giving ceremony.
Benjamin Jordaan and Buhle Buthelezi were chosen as head boy and head girl respectively.
Benjamin said he did not think he would be chosen into such an important position. “It feels amazing to be head boy and I will prove to the teachers and fellow learners that I am a good learner and leader.” His sentiments were shared by Buhle, who added that she was excited to get such an opportunity to play an active role in the school.
“I want to encourage learners to be more involved in school activities such as sports and to do well academically,” she said.
Benjamin and Buhle will be assisted by Nikita Groenewald and Liechen Selinda who were chosen as deputy head girl and deputy head boy. Nikita said she was surprised she was chosen and will work hard to help the learners.
Liechen added that since he was good at making friends and behaves well, he will be able to influence his fellow learners in a positive manner.
