Dios Los Ninos enters the Cloud

WILGEHEUWEL – Dios Los Ninos School classrooms have been fitted with the latest Smart Board technology.

Dios Los Ninos Private School is the first school in the country to have their Smart Boards connected to Cloud.
This is according to Vastratech eLearning Solutions professional learning specialist, Freddy Chireka, who trained the teachers on the software for the new Smart Boards installed in the science and mathematics classrooms.
Chireka broke down how to create activities and put notes and classwork on Cloud, an internet-based storage unit, for schoolchildren to access at home. This technology also allows teachers to monitor their work on projects in real time and be able to see each childs’ contribution.
Principal of the school, Leonie de Kock said that even though the children thoroughly enjoy and are intrigued by the Smart Board, the school will implement a blended system where the children still write and create art. This is so that all learning styles are accommodated.

“It is very important for the children to still read and write, we can’t do away with it. We are not divorcing the children from the past but are equipping them for the future,” said Chireka.
