Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Gauteng today

Residents might have to brace themselves for yet another severe thunderstorm after the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a watch for severe thunderstorms earlier today.

According to the SAWS, conditions are favourable for thunderstorms but at this stage it is uncertain whether and how they will develop. Once they can determine this, the watch will be upgraded to a warning.

The watch will be in place between 1pm and 11pm.
