The provincial crime statistics were released this week and unfortunately the Honeydew precinct ranks number two on the 10 worst precincts in Gauteng this year.
In previous Honeydew CPF meetings it has been mentioned that Sector 4 is Cosmo City and that the council has been trying for years to have a police station built in Cosmo City.
The precinct with the most crimes is Johannesburg central with 14 606 crimes. Honeydew comes in second with 12 889 crimes reported, and third is Pretoria central with 11 444 crimes reported. Number 10 on the list is Roodepoort with 8 285 reported crimes. Honeydew makes up 12.3 per centof this list.
The list below focuses on the Honeydew precinct. Where it lies on the top 10 worst precinct list and how many cases have been reported. Police provincial spokesperson, Lieutenant Kay Makhubela has given permission for these statistics to be released.
