A Status for CMR Juniors

Golfers make club proud

CMR Golf Club’s junior golf team recently won promotion to the Central Gauteng Golf Union’s (CGGU) A division.

The team of eight golfers, whose ages range from 11 to 19 years, has been working their way up from the C division. The performances of Mohammed Dadoo, Nabeela Aldie, Nishaad Allie, Amaan Flashman, Mahmood Flashman, and Christian McGregor helped the team achieve great success. Carl Mwale and Kayle Wykes were not slacking either, as they received the recognition of the provincial board and were selected to be in the Gauteng Inter-Provincial team.
The golf club has been so buoyed up by the success of the juniors that it has decided to sign up another team in the division.
CMR Golf Club’s chairman, Winston Smith, said he is proud of the golfers who have steadily improved each season.

“Membership for junior golfers is free, so we encourage those who are interested to come and experience the sport. The club is also working together with the South African Golf Development Board which has a programme encouraging children between the ages of eight and 18 who come from disadvantaged backgrounds to join,” he said.

Smith also stressed the invitation to young girls, as the club still has a shortage of female junior golfers.
The club will now have two junior teams participating in the CGGU’s divisions and will be looking for more success when the season kicks off next year.
