National Brush Day

Remember to brush your teeth on #NationalBrushDay

National Brush Day – sometimes referred to as National Brush Your Teeth Day – is celebrated annually on 1 November.

This day serves as a reminder to all individuals to follow the Dental Association’s guidelines on tooth brushing.

National Brush Day follows Halloween – traditionally the single largest day of candy consumption across the globe. The simple act of brushing your teeth for two minutes twice daily can have a significant impact on cavity prevention. It can also aid in the prevention of a myriad other oral diseases, such as gingivitis.

National Brush Day began in 2013. It was an extension of the Kids’ Healthy Mouths public service advertising campaign by The Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Loves. More than 35 leading oral health organisations formed a coalition and an advertising campaign was launched in August 2012. The day was designed to remind and encourage parents to get their kids to brush their teeth – for just two minutes, twice a day.

To celebrate today, spend some extra time explaining the importance of brushing your teeth to your children. And replace your toothbrush!
