Health awareness in Matholesville

Health workers in Matholesville

The Health Department, the Ward-Based Outreach Teams (WBOT), the Campaign for Cancer and Anova Health hosted an awareness campaign in Matholesville Hall on 28 October. Lead by WBOT, this campaign had officials immunising children, taking Pap smears, testing for HIV and screening for TB. Community members came in their numbers to learn more about their health and have their health status assessed.

WBOT co-ordinators Sister Phuthi Ramushu and Edfon Tarauva were on site to ensure proceedings went off without a hitch. Doctor Madeleine Santana was also ready to assist where she was needed.

“Because its breast cancer awareness month, we have decided to host this campaign here in Matholesville and educate our communities. That is why we are not only looking at breast cancer but other illnesses which plague this community. We want to bring such services to the people,” said Sister Ramushu.
