Win with Food Lovers Market Westgate

Another chance to win a R500 voucher

Did you know cheddar cheese originates from the British village of Cheddar in Somerset? Probably the most consumed cheese in the world, cheddar varies in flavour from a relatively creamy taste to a sharper taste in more mature cheddar.

Charles Finlay, store manager at Food Lovers Market Westgate, shares his favourite South African ‘Braaibroodjie’ recipe – a treat for the Summer braai.

Braaibroodjies with red onion marmalade, gypsy ham and cheddar cheese

Ingredients:

Slices of good quality white bread

Butter

Red onion marmalade

Gypsy ham

Grated cheddar cheese

Spread one side of the bread slices with butter. On the other side, spread the onion marmalade and top with gypsy ham, followed by the grated cheese. Add another slice of bread on top with the butter facing outwards. Place them gently on a braai grid over medium to low heat coals. Braai until golden and crispy.
