Warning: New crime hotspot confirmed – more horror stories surface

Modus operandi in every case exactly the same

The Record can now confirm that two dangerous criminals are targeting motorists, in all known cases thus far females, at the intersection of William Nicol and Ontdekkers Roads.

This comes after at least five more victims came forward after yesterday’s article on Shelly Amber Burns-Vermaak’s incident. It is now clear that the same two men are involved in all the cases. The stories of two of the new victims that came forward are so similar, they could be talking about the same incident.

The following points in three of the accounts, those of Burns-Vermaak, Nadine Over and Nicolette Burger’s correspond:

• The perpetrators are two men in their 20s

• All three victims’ vehicles were four to five vehicles back from the traffic lights

• All three incidents occurred at about 5.50pm in peak-hour traffic

• All three victim’s windows were down or slightly down

• In all three cases, the two suspects just casually walked away when they did not succeed

• The suspects threatened all three, saying they would shoot them. In Burger’s case, they actually did draw a firearm

In Burns-Vermaak’s case, they demanded her cellphone, but in the other two cases they tried to snatch the vehicle’s keys and get into the vehicle

All three women said that although they started hooting to attract other motorists’ attention to their situation, no-one responded.

Motorists, especially women, are urged to be extremely vigilant at this intersection and not to assume that because they are in peak-hour traffic they are safe. Citizens are also advised to share this information with friends, family and colleagues.
