Security guard shot dead at complex

Second guard unharmed.

A security guard was shot dead at about 12.30am yesterday (18 October) at a complex in Sadie Street, said West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch (WSRNW) spokesperson Frik van Zyl.

According to Van Zyl two armed suspects allegedly came from Princess informal settlement and entered the new complex opposite Princess High School. When the two security guards caught them in the act of stealing solar panels, one of the suspects retaliated by shooting dead one of the guards before fleeing back into the informal settlement.

The second guard came off unscathed.

Roodepoort Police Station confirmed the incident.
