#KnowYourNeighbour

This will help when we see strangers at a home who might be up to no good.

The residents of Fleurhof Extension 26 hosted a braai with a #KnowYourNeighbour theme. Many of those who had recently moved into the newly developed area brought their camp chairs and drinks, ready to get to know their neighbours. Getting to know who lives in the same area helps prevent criminal activities in the community and brings everyone closer together. The residents have already started an informal neighbourhood watch through which they inform each other about activities in the community.

“We will be stronger if we work together and we can only do that by getting to knowing each other. We also have a private registry listing the exact number of people living in each house.

This will help when we see strangers at a home who might be up to no good. You’ll find that criminals pose as delivery persons or contractors, especially since major developments are still going on in the area. By having a registry, we can confirm whether these people are legitimately on the property with the home owner,” said Obokeng Letseka who attended the braai.

Leefar Larry organised the fun day which didn’t just consist of a braai and drinks – jumping castles and other fun activities for the children were available. He said the day was for everyone to enjoy and that they will be hosting more events to unite the residents of Extension 26.
