Johannesburg Water (JW) cut water supply to Roodepoort suburbs to reduce water consumption on 10 October.
Residents complained about a lack of pressure or no water when the entity cut 15 per cent of the water supply.
JW tweeted an apology for not informing residents.

The water utility assured that this measure was not water shedding, but that the water pressure had been reduced and affected high located areas.
5/6 The current situation can be salvaged by all consumers restricting their use of water so there can be enough for all.

Residents are urged to consciously conserve water and adhere to water restrictions.
On 12 October, water had been restored to the area but water pressure was low due to the high demand.
