Another resident has come forward with cellphone footage of a Roodepoort Police Station officer who become verbally abusive when she tried to lay an assault charge.
Although the incident happened on 20 June, the complainant decided to release the video in the light of another one the Record published recently. She, her brother and sister-in-law went to the station at about 11.15pm to report an assault. “When we arrived the police members were standing around chatting and no one seemed interested in helping us.” When she finally turned to her brother to tell him she would rather abort her attempt to lay a charge, she said to him, “This is a useless case”. But, she alleged, “One of the officers then accused me of calling him useless and a shouting match ensued”. At one stage he calls her mother “useless” and as he walks away says “you are f***ing useless.
Once again the Record sent the video to the cluster spokesperson for comment and to investigate, but by the time of publishing this story he has yet to comment on the new video as well as on the one that was sent to him on 5 October. However, the blue tics on the WhatsApp messages clearly show that he had opened the messages.
