Say no to drugs

The pupils were shown a video about the various drugs and the effect they have on people.

The Grade 7 pupils at Gustav Preller Primary School recently received an important message about drugs and their effects from a rehabilitation centre.

The school invited the Rand Aid Association’s Wedge Gardens Treatment Centre to present an interactive drug information talk. The pupils were shown a video about the various drugs and the effect they have on people. Afterwards, they were divided into small groups and interactive talk sessions were held.

Adél Grobbelaar, the head of the Rand Aid-run treatment centre, said, “We have found that the shyer children can be more easily reached by the counsellors in smaller groups, which gives these children a better opportunity to ask questions.

According to everyone involved, it was a very successful visit and the message of saying “No” to drugs was thoroughly reinforced.
