Nic Diederichs waits for Joburg Water

WILGEHEUWEL – Local residents report issues on Nic Diederichs Road.

A sewage leak near the new intersection of Nic Diederichs Road and Vintage Street has been fixed, but other problems still persist.

Local residents, Barbara and Noel Modes came acros the overflowing manhole on one of their daily walks. “We knew it had been bubbling for about a week but we did not know who to contact about it,” said Barbara. The sewage was leaking into a small stream that runs under Nic Diederichs Road in Wilgeheuwel.

Although this problem was fixed once Johannesburg Water (JW) was alerted, further up Nic Diederichs Road is a fire hydrant that has been dripping for more than a month. The Modes’ confirmed that the hydrant was flushed out by JW and has been dripping ever since.

Johannesburg Water had yet to comment on these issues by the time of publication.
