National Chocolate Milk Day

Enjoy a tall, frosty glass of chocolate goodness on #NationalChocolateMilkDay

Chocolate milk is loved by people of all ages and 27 September is the day to enjoy a tall glass of ice cold chocolatey goodness as it is National Chocolate Milk Day.

This day is celebrated annually.

Chocolate milk was invented by Hans Sloane in the late 1680s and can be purchased as a premix or it can be made at home using either cocoa powder and a sweetener or with melted chocolate, chocolate syrup or chocolate milk mix.

Sloane encountered cocoa while he was in Jamaica. The locals drank it mixed with water.

Sloane tried it and reportedly found the taste nauseating. He found a way to mix the cocoa with milk to make it more pleasant tasting.

Upon his return to England he brought the chocolate recipe back with him and now this delicious drink is enjoyed by people everyday.

To celebrate mix up some chocolate milk to drink and use #ChocolateMilkDay to post on social media.
