Taste your pudding and eat it

All I had to buy was ice-cream cones! Everything else was donated.

The elders at Summit Retirement Village recently hosted a pudding tasting day. The purpose of the event was not only to celebrate International Elders Day and Heritage Day, but to also raise funds for the annual Christmas function. The elders took it upon themselves to donate various puddings at the behest of organiser Lillian Hadley.

“Last year, someone suggested having a pudding day some time in the future as a way to raise funds. There was such an amazing response from everyone after my appeal for pudding donations. All I had to buy was ice-cream cones! Everything else was donated.

The day went off so well that we’re hoping even more people will participate in the future,” she said.

The elders from the Village made no less than 32 different puddings, thrilling manager Loran Phasey with their enthusiasm.

“The excitement from everyone was fantastic and to see the families who came to visit was great,” said Loran.
