Power outage leaves residents in the dark

Technicians are on site working to restore power

Residents of the Kloofendal area have been without electricity since 4.30pm yesterday afternoon (22 September).

Areas affected by this outage include Helderkruin, Roodekrans, Constantia Kloof, Weltevreden Park, Wilro Park and surrounding areas.

According to City Power‘s Twitter account the power outage is the result of a faulty transformer in Kloofendal.

It is the only transformer at the substation taking load because of the substation upgrades, and oil is leaking from it.

City Power technicians are on site, working hard to restore the power. A new transformer is on its way and the estimated time for power to be restored is 24 hours. The faulty transformer is being removed from the site.

City Power apologises for any inconvenience caused by the delayed outage. The entity assures residents of its continued efforts to restore the power.

City Power will keep customers updated on its progress throughout the day on its website www.citypower.co.za and Twitter @CityPowerjhb.

Customers experiencing loss of power can call the City of Johannesburg call centre on 0860 562 874 or log a call on the City Power website at www.citypower.co.za by clicking on Fault Logging.
