Roodepoort Record receives special mention in renowned journalist’s new book

The Street – Exposing a world of cops, bribes and drug dealers.

Renowned investigative journalist Paul McNally’s book on police corruption, the drug world and bribery on the West Rand has just hit the shelves and is a real page-turner.

Although non-fiction, The Street – Exposing a world of cops, bribes and drug dealers is written in a style that any fan of fiction will enjoy as McNally recounts his investigation into the West Rand’s underworld. To bind his narrative, McNally built his investigation on the shady characters and police stations found in the area around Ontdekkers Road, among them the Sophiatown and Florida Police Stations.

It took McNally about two years to investigate and write the book. He was previously part of the Wits Justice Project, won a CNN award in 2009, garnered three awards at the MTN Radio Awards in 2015, has written for various big publications and is now heading the Citizen Justice Network.

The Record was pleased to see that McNally acknowledged its very own journalist, Riaan van Zyl, for his occasional assistance with information about crime and the police stations in the area.

The book can be ordered at www.thestreetbook.co.za.
