Weltevreden Park without water

WELTEVREDEN PARK - Residents should take note, no water today till 8pm.

Residents should take note that all streets in the suburb of Weltevreden Park will be without water today (19 September) due to an unplanned interruption.

Spokesperson of Johannesburg Water, Eleanor Mavimbela said that the water has been down since 8am this morning and should be restored by 8pm tonight. The reason for this interruption is meter change by Rand Water.

“Residents are reminded that level-2 water restrictions are still in place and must be adhered to,” said Mavimbela. Level two means that people must adhere to the following.

  •  Not to water and irrigate their gardens from 6am to 6pm everyday
  •  Only hand held hosepipes or bucket/watering cans are allowed outside these hours
  •  Not to fill their swimming pools with municipal water
  •  Not to use hosepipes to wash their cars or paved areas

Mavimbela provided these useful tips for residents to save water:

  •  Don’t leave taps dripping
  •  Take shallow baths
  •  Use bathwater or grey-water to water the garden.

“We urge residents to report any form of vandalism and theft of water infrastructure to 080 000 2587.
