Trinity House’s stars

LITTLE FALLS – Pupils make their school proud with top achievements in various extra curricular activities.

Pupils of Trinity House, Little Falls, made their school proud recently with a variety of top achievements.

On 2 September, Grade 10 pupil, Kayla Summers raised R22 000 on her own, for the Debutantes and Squires Ball. She explained that each Grade 10 pupil has to raise a minimum of R3 500 to attend the dance. The money raised will be divided into three charities. “My parents have a restaurant and I started a sand-art business in the restaurant,” said Summers. Children can make various crafts and the sand-art fun is also part of the restaurant’s party package.

Summers said she’s been doing sand-art since January this year. “I am really passionate about charity and to see where the money goes to.”

Four pupils were chosen as part of the D12 athletics team for cross-country. Jordan Anastasiou (U17), Ryan Marshall (U16), Andrew Britz (U16) and Lesedi Segapo (U14) competed on 3 September in a trial to hopefully become part of the Gauteng team. The four athletes all agreed that making the team is very difficult as only the top six athletes in each age group qualify. “There were, like, a 100 athletes in each of our categories,” said Anastasiou.

Trinity House, Little Falls also boasts with their very own figure skater, Julia Goldschmidt (14). She recently competed in nationals in order to gain colours in this sport. She managed – once again – to receive colours. She said that as she is in high school now, she decided not to compete as an individual for now and joined a synchronised figure-skating team.

Three cricketers, Connor Dale, Kieron Botha (both U15) and Jayson Pledger (U19) have made the Johannesburg West area team. Sports coordinator of the school and U19 Joburg West team coach, Agri Zondi explained that the boys will compete in a Cricket Week at the end of September, where a final 24 boys will be chosen for the Gauteng team.
