Give a helping hand to Dorcas Aid

Dorcas Aid hosts art sale to raise funds

With the community taking strain from the high increase in living costs, organisations such as Dorcas Aid bear the consequences. Dorcas Aid relies on community support in the form of donations and sales from their charity shop to assist those in need. They do this through their Social Care Project which helps various soup kitchens and early childhood development centres.

To raise funds, Dorcas Aid recently held a sale at its Florida offices where a variety of artwork, including completed, framed jig-saw puzzles, paintings, murals and photographs donated to the organisation throughout the years were made available to the public.

“We serve the poorest of the poor. Sometimes we have individuals who come to us for help.

That is why we partner with various organisations such as churches and work through them. We don’t only help organisations in Roodepoort – areas such as Krugersdorp, Soweto and Tshepisong also benefit form our efforts,” said the organisation’s Nerine Niemand.

A similar art sale will be held every Friday and those interested in supporting Dorcas Aid can visit their offices at 4 Madeline Street, Florida or contact them 011 672 9669.
