Maragon Private Schools pupil Declan Burt won a gold medal when he participated in the North Zone Artistic Gymnastics Championship.
The competition was held at the Indoor Sport Centre in Kempton Park from the 25 to 27 August. It featured boys and girls artistic gymnasts from level 1 to 3. The nine-year-old was representing Central Gauteng after he was awarded his provincial colours for men’s artistic gymnastics. This is not the first time Declan has excelled in the competition – he received a gold medal in the competition two year ago.
His school mate Alyssa Elflein also represented Central Gauteng in the women’s artistic gymnastics level 2 competition.
