Dorljota joins Queen Butterfly for Casual Day

Getting in on Casual Day

Casual Day is the biggest South African fundraising project for persons with disabilities. The day brought with it a big surprise, as the Dorljota Taxi Association joined in on the action. The association bought more than 50 Casual Day stickers from Queen Butterfly, an organisation that works with children who have mental disabilities.

The association’s Zeblon Simelane was happy to get involved in such an initiative after he was approached by Palesa Mofokeng of Queen Butterfly.

“This is our way of giving back to the community. We want to show the community that as a taxi association, we care.

For us to be in this partnership was God’s plan, as Palesa has tried to contact us on numerous occasions before with no luck. Now that we have started working together, we will continue to do so and help her organisation succeed,” said Zeblon.

Palesa said one of the reasons she wanted to work with the taxi association is that there are mentally disabled community members who use their taxis. This includes one of her pupils who uses a taxi to travel from home to school.

“I wanted to involve big and small businesses and form partnerships, because our organisation relies on fundraising to keep going.

I’ve always wanted to form a relationship with Dorljota because their motto to serve the nation with pride really touched me and they are involved in transport. Sipho Motloung is a high functioning pupil at my school and I want to ensure that he and others like him are taken care of when using taxis,” she said.
