Rocking for charity

Music festival for children's homes

Lyla Illing, part-time musician and junior radio producer from Hot 91.9FM, will be hosting a charity event on 3 September at Rumours Lounge, located at the Palm Court Centre in Weltevreden Park.

The one-day Charity Music Festival is currently in its third year, and is called the Plushy Fest. The event, which starts at 2pm, will host lots of musical talents on its three stages, where the musicians and bands will ‘rock on’.

The Plushy Fest strives to collect donations of plush toys, food, blankets and other necessities for the Jakaranda Children’s Home in Pretoria, and the Johannesburg Children’s Home. It’s not a fixed fee event.

Lyla said,

“We are very proud of this event and the aid we have been able to give to the non-profit organisations in question, as their annual costs are only 10 per cent government funded.”

She also stated that they aim to obtain more sponsor support every year, and have had a lot of great prizes in their previous events.

Lyla is inviting you to join in, and support them in their aim of hosting their biggest event yet.

Tickets cost R60 without a donation, or R30 with a donation of a plush toy, non-perishable food or a blanket, and and available at Quicket () or at Hit Music.
