Junior Colleges loves crazy science

RADIOKOP – Pupils of Junior Colleges Snuggles don their lab coats and create some crazy science experiments.

Crazy scientists roamed around the car park of Junior Colleges Snuggles, where the annual science fair for the Grade 00s and 0s was held.

Each pupil had to demonstrate their own experiment in front of parents, peers, teachers and adjudicators. The general manager of Junior Colleges (JC), Trudie Gilmore; academic head of Junior Colleges, Zareen Clark and marketing officer of JC, Unathi Gqala were present to judge the pupils on the creativity, presentation and success of the project. Marks were also given for the pupils’ crazy scientist outfits on 26 August.

“It is exceptionally important for the children to form a foundation in science that they can develop later on down the line. I think we sometimes underestimate our children and they made us very proud today,” said principal, Megan Hunt.

Every child received a medal and certificate, while special trophies and prizes were given to first, second and third place, and best- dressed scientist.

“Every year the experiments get better and better. We do experiments in class every week so they are familiar with the processes,” Hunt added.

Hannah Ledoux took first prize with her cloud formation experiment, Aiden Kearns placed second place with his vacuum project, and Keitumetse Phakoe placed third for creating a ‘jellyfish’. Alexia Watson won best-dressed scientist.
