Are Hawks investigating local gate motor syndicate?

Certain names keep on popping up.

A group of young adult males living in the Witpoortjie area is believed to be involved in a gate motor/ housebreaking/ car theft syndicate which is allegedly being investigated by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), also known as the Hawks.

More than one source, one of whom fears for his/ her life, has made similar allegations. The sources are all close to some of the suspects. The Record can unfortunately not publish this information, as it may form part of an investigation. The sources also questioned why even though they had given the police information as to some of the suspects whereabouts, they either have not been arrested at all, or they’ve been arrested and immediately released. The sources went on to say that one of the suspects is out on bail on five different charges, and the method apparently being used is to give the same surname in every arrest with different first names and a change in the last digit of his/ her ID number.

The Record is currently awaiting comment from the police and the Hawks. The sources also said they will supply more information soon.
