One arrested for house robbery

Man tied up with shoelaces.

A Roodekrans resident fell prey to an armed house robbery this past Wednesday (24 August), when he made the mistake of opening the door for a stranger.

It was just past 2pm when the gate bell rang. He peeped through a window and saw a man at the gate. He opened the door but was confronted by two men who were already on the property. At knife-point they ordered him back into the house and told him not to scream. After demanding money and jewellery they tied him up with shoelaces. In the end the robbers only took a television set and a tablet.

As the suspects were about to leave in their black Toyota Conquest, the police cornered them in the driveway. Two managed to escape on foot but a third, 30 years of age, was apprehended.

The suspect was detained at Roodepoort Police Station.
