Search for missing girl continues

HONEYDEW – A reward will be given to anyone with valuable leads as to where Phomolo may be.

HONEYDEW – The 15-year-old, Phomolo Mokgatlhe who disappeared from her Cosmo City school almost two weeks ago is still missing.

Spokesperson for Honeydew Police, Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs confirmed that there is no news about Phomolo yet. “The investigating officer has been visiting addresses of her friends and following up on information, but she has not been found,” said Jacobs.

Phomolo has been missing since 12 August at 1.30pm when she left her school, Far North Secondary School in Cosmo City.

Phomolo’s mother, Evelyn Mokgatlhe explained that they have her daughter’s phone. She said that they received an SMS to the phone from another number. Mokgathle said that they had an argument about her daughter always being on the phone. According to Mokgathle, the SMS said that her daughter ran away, because of the argument.

It is, however, unclear if Phomolo had sent the SMS as it contained a mixture of Tswana and SeSotho. “Our home language is Tswana,” said Mokgathle. She explained that when they called the number a man with the name Sipho answered. This, however, is not confirmed.

“If I could only hear her voice and know she is safe,” pleaded Mokgathle. Phomolo’s mother or investigating officer, Detective Duma could be contacted with any information.

Details: Detective Duma, 071 675 7105 or Evelyn Mokgathle, 072 059 3428.
