Be aware of a recent change on this popular road

If you are travelling on Doreen Road look out for this change

Are you a regular traveller on Doreen Road? Notice anything different?

The road has recently undergone some changes motorists should be aware of.

Doreen Road used to have two lanes going uphill towards the CR Swart Road intersection. One lane was a dedicated right-turn lane used by motorists when turning right into Toermalyn Avenue or further on into CR Swart Road.

Motorists will now find that after the Toermalyn Avenue turnoff, Doreen Road has been reduced to one lane. This means travellers not wanting to turn right into Toermalyn Avenue will now have to move over to the left-hand lane before they can turn right into CR Swart Road.

Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Roads Agency, Ntsikelelo Ngubeni said the following on these changes: “The changes were made to improve the safety of motorists at the Doreen Road/ CR Swart Road intersection. In the past, vehicles made use of the through lane to turn right into CR Swart Road, often turning into oncoming traffic as CR Swart Road only has one receiving lane. The change was made to prevent the illegal double right turn movements that used to take place.”
