Ask a ward councillor in the new Councillor’s Corner

JOBURG – Submit your questions and we will get a ward councillor to answer them for you in the new weekly column, Councillor's Corner.

As the City of Johannesburg’s new ward councillors are officially sworn in, the phone calls about leaking pipes or street lights that do not work will likely start streaming in.

As a local newspaper, the Randburg Sun provides a platform for residents to learn about, understand and follow local government. As an extension of that, a weekly column called ‘Councillor’s Corner’ will start to appear in your newspaper.

Councillor’s Corner is a platform for you, our readers, to voice your concerns or questions and for ward councillors to respond to them.

Different willing ward councillors will respond to a question every week.

If you follow the column, you will more than likely become local government-savvy in no time.

Questions like what is an MMC, who exactly do we report a pothole to, who exactly does the City grant tenders to and who can attend council meetings will be given answers by those you elected in the 2016 municipal elections.

Send your burning question to aimeed@caxton.co.za, and let’s get the ball rolling.
