Die Ruiter choir in tune

Pupils excel at choir competition.

Laerskool Die Ruiter’s choir is beaming with pride after they took first place in the 8 Beats revue and choir competition. The choir competition was started last year to give school choirs more opportunities to hone their talents and compete against other school choirs. It is divided into junior, senior and high school categories.

Lead by choirmaster Esmè Axsel, the choir impressed adjudicators with their vocals when they performed In the garden and Battle Hymn of the Republic.

The choir beat various other school choirs in the 10-day long competition, which was held at a number of different venues such as Emperors Palace, Pretoria, Krugersdorp, Laerskool Florida and Laerskool Roodekrans earlier this month.

Esmè was delighted with her choir’s performance in the competition and vowed to return with an even better choir next year.
