Three arrested for unlicensed firearm and stolen vehicle

Live ammunition also found.

This past Monday (15 August) at about 2.45pm, three men were arrested by Roodepoort Police while on patrol.

The police saw the three men driving in a bakkie and decided to pull them over. However, when they switched on their blue lights and siren the men sped off. The police gave chase and managed to block off the suspects’ vehicle at Government Street. They ordered the men out of the vehicle and searched them. They found an unlicensed firearm and three rounds of live ammunition on one of them. There were also a hammer and crowbar in the vehicle. All three men claimed they did not know to whom the tools belonged.

On further investigation the police also found that the vehicle was stolen.

The three men were arrested and will appear in court soon.
