Hoërskool Die Adelaar’s Thato Fepane and Mbalenhle Sikhakhane helped their school achieve top honours in the recent Segarona Eisteddfod Festival.

The eisteddfod, held at the Bram Fischer Hall, had various schools from the D12 district competing in different artistic categories such as dance, vocal and poetry.

Mbalenhle placed in third position in the solo vocal category, impressing judges with her smooth vocals. The school’s vocal group also achieved first position in the group vocal category. This was followed up by another first place podium as the school’s choir, consisting of 20 pupils, came out on top.

In the art and poetry categories, Pauline Kgokong, Moeletsi Mpete, Lyndon du Sart, Kgomotso Morake, Gcobisa Ziki and Mjabu Ndlovu did not let their school down. They achieved two first place finishes, two second place finishes, and two third place finishes.

Those who placed first in their categories have qualified to compete in the provincial level of the competition in Springs this month.
