Westview Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Clinic to host Remembrance Day

Both addicts that have stayed sober and those who have passed on will be remembered.

Westview Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Clinic will host its first Remembrance Day on 3 September, and hope to make it a yearly institution.

The clinic has strong, regular support groups for people in recovery and their families, but has decided to also start an annual event where they will remember those who have passed on and give those who are still sober an opportunity to make a renewed commitment to life. They are therefore inviting everyone who has lost someone to join them on the day. The event is open to all, even if the loved one never used the facility, and attendees do not need to live on the West Rand.

There will be speakers who are recovering addicts or experts in their fields, live choir performances, a raffle draw for a painting done by one of the therapists, and a candle-lighting ceremony.

Time: 4pm until late

Place: 9 Madeline Street

Entrance fee: R20,00 which includes a candle bag that attendees can decorate or write the name of the person being remembered. These will be placed in a circle on the grass to create a spectacular sight.

Refreshments will be sold at the clinic.
