National Mutt Day

Show some love to mixed breed dogs on #NationalMuttDay

National Mutt Day (also known as National Mixed Breed Dog Day) is celebrated twice a year, on 31 July and 2 December.

This day was created in 2005 by celebrity pet expert and animal welfare advocate, Colleen Paige.

National Mutt Day is all about embracing, saving and celebrating mixed breed dogs. The biggest percentage of dogs are euthanised due to constant over-breeding and the public’s desire for designer dogs. These practices often lead to ill and neglected dogs.

Mixed breed dogs tend to be healthier, better behaved, live longer and are able to perform the duties of pure bred dogs. There are a lot of mixed breed dogs in shelters longing for a loving home.

To celebrate, visit a shelter today. If you cannot adopt you can always become a volunteer.

Post on social media using #NationalMuttDay.
