Foundation spreads love at Home

Saeed Foundation visits Old Age Home

A non-profit organisation (NGO) known as the Saeed Foundation surprised residents of the Donovan McDonald Old Age Home with a brunch date this morning (29 July). The NGO has earmarked the home for assistance and today spread love and joy to the elderly.

The event was funded by the foundations’ Saeed Abrahams and his M&S Electrical and Construction Company. He also gratefully accepted assistance from the community.

“I don’t have parents, but when I come to this home, all the elderly residents are my parents. It is all thanks to God who has given us the strength to be here today and give back to the community. Some community members also tried to assist the event by donating sugar and baking koeksisters,” he said.

The elderly were all smiles as they were serenaded by the beautiful voice of Abigail Fisher (Lady A) while Dafunc strummed his guitar to the audience’s delight.

The NGO has indicated that it plans to organise a brunch for the home’s elderly on a monthly basis, providing tender love and care.

The Saeed Foundation not only cares about the elderly – they’re also passionate about youth improvement. The foundation runs a pageant in which the youth can participate and show off their talents, including dance and poetry.

The NGO is currently working hard to complete its skills development centre in Florida. Those who want to assist in getting the centre up and running, or imparting skills to the youth are welcome.

“If we are serious about helping the youth and getting them off drugs then we have to find an alternative for them, we can’t just expect them to change if they don’t have anything productive to look forward to. We have to ensure the youth become self-sustaining,” said Saeed.
