Weather could be cause of power outage

Technicians already at sub-station to restore power

Power could be restored by noon today in the Florida and Newlands areas affected by this morning’s power outages.

Areas affected:

Newlands

Florida

Bergbron

Florida Hills

Florida Glen

Honeydew

Part of Northcliff

Lehae

Tshepisong

Luthereng

Yumna Sheik, the spokesperson for City Power said, “The transformers could have experienced an overload, and tripped, but sometimes the cold weather also contributes to power failures.”

Sheik confirmed that technicians were already at the substation to investigate the cause of the power outage and working towards restoring power.

“If the power only tripped at the substation, it will be restored by 12 noon today.”
