A 21-year-old man was arrested in Mama Street during the morning of Tuesday 19 July for possession of stolen goods.
Police were patrolling when they came across the man carrying a washing basket filled with clothes and a blanket. They asked him about the clothes and he told the police that he was taking them to his mother’s home, where he also lives.
The police insisted on going with him to verify his story, but the suspect then admitted he’d stolen the goods.
The suspect was arrested and detained at the Roodepoort Police Station on a charge of possession of stolen goods.
