Wrestlers unite for Bright family

Wrestlers to face off to raise funds for Bright family

Wrestlers from the Honour Wrestling Association will be showing off their gravity-defying manoeuvres next weekend (30 July) to raise funds for the Bright family.

Two months ago, Marlize Bright and her three children were hospitalised after falling victim to a hijacking incident that ended in a collision. Event organiser, Steve van Eden, also known by his wrestling persona of Steve Eden, was one of the first people on scene and helped chase and apprehend one of the fleeing criminals. He said the community needed to unite against crime and assist each other when in need.

“I want to give something back to the community. We need to come together and stand against crime. We have to stop looking away and do something about it. We cannot continue to live in fear in our own homes,” he said.

Wrestling fans will be treated to some spectacular matches. Frenchmen Thierry Middoux will be defending his HWA World Championship title against Steve Eden, while Zizoux Middoux will take on Xterminator for the South African Championship title. Gravity will go pound for pound against The Ripper, while other wrestlers including Two Face, Jason the Terrible and many more will be in action on the day.

The event will be held at Laerskool Horison in Kite Street from 1pm. Entrance will cost R20 per person. All proceeds will go to the Bright family. The school has indicated they will also donate a portion of the takings from the school’s tuckshop, which will be open on the day.

Tickets can be purchased at the school, or you can contact Steve van Eden on 074 932 7520 for more information.
