Motorists are strongly advised to avoid Main Reef Road after it has been closed at the Commando Road off-ramp due to protest action.
Protesters have been pelting motorists with rocks and bricks, forcing Metro Police to close the road. This has caused traffic to be backed up as far as Florida. The N1 North from Soweto to Roodepoort has also been affected severely with the queue starting at the N12 West at Southgate, as well as in the opposite direction.
Motorists should use alternative routes until further notice.
