The situation on Main Reef Road has been restored to normal, after protests over housing forced Metro Police and the Police to close the road, leading to traffic chaos this morning.
According to Metro Police spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar the protesters dispersed at about noon and traffic flow was back to normal at 1pm.
Zamimpilo residents in the south of Johannesburg near Riverlea blocked the roads, burned tyres, allegedly burned the residence of an MEC and pelted motorists with rocks and bricks from the early hours of this morning.
