It was a day of fun, laughter, jumping, exercise and making friends when a happy, excited group of 22 children had a jump at iJUMP in Strubens Valley.
iJUMP heeded the Ichikowitz Family Foundation’s call to action this Mandela Day as part of its #iamconstitution initiative. One of its beneficiaries, the Chief Albert Luthuli School’s aftercare programme came to the arena on 18 July for 67 minutes of jumping, as part of Mandela Day.
The Ichikowitz Family Foundation’s campaign encourages all South Africans to read, embrace and live the Constitution, to celebrate the achievements of South Africa and constructively confront challenges to reach the country’s fullest potential. The foundation contributes to the preservation of our heritage, the conservation of our environment, the education of our people and actively promotes nation building.
The campaign honors the legacy of Nelson Mandela by celebrating the values he lived by. Lungi Maboe, teacher at the Chief Albert Luthuli School said this is the first time they had benefited by Mandela Day. “This day marks a remarkable icon who fought for the rights of all South Africans, especially those of children,” said Maboe. She added that the children deserved this fun day after all their hard work.
The after school programme facilitates arts, dance and music. A group of children from African Havens Orphanage also had their turn of 67 minutes at iJUMP.
