City Parks and Zoo at Roodepark

Mandela Day a success at Roodepark School

Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo were busy on Mandela Day, hosting various events to celebrate the day.

In Roodepoort, staff members from the department visited Roodepark School and assisted in developing a food garden and painting the palisade fencing, as well as doing various other maintenance tasks.

While the school was being upgraded, pupils were kept busy listening to various speakers such as the Transport and Region C oversight councillor Christine Walters; Captain Jan Combrink, who kept the pupils at the edge of their seats with a session on drug awareness and the dangers of drug abuse; Johannesburg Water’s Ntombizethu Morebane, who spoke to the pupils about saving water, and Regional Director Mlamleli Belot.
