Are you ready to be Impressed?

MULDERSDRIFT/MELVILLE - Expanding juice bar empire, Impressed's Claire du Preez shares her story.

Self-made businesswoman, Claire du Preez, plans to bring her brand of freshly-pressed juices from Melville to Muldersdrift.

Last year, Du Preez, owner of Impressed, previously known as Colour Me Healthy , opened her first juice bar in Melville’s 27 Boxes. Since then, she’s opened a store in Maboneng and will soon open a store in Sandton. The growing juice empire will also expand to Muldersdrift in August at the Ngwenya Glass Village Market set to be held on Sundays from 7 August.

However, it was not always Du Preez’s intention to become a juice-bar owner. Du Preez studied law at Rhodes University and was an office manager for a time before she bought herself a juicer and pitched a stall at food markets. “I was unhappy at work so I resigned and wanted to travel with my boyfriend, and now business partner, but he was given an offer at work he could not refuse. That’s when I decided to start a juice business,” Du Preez explained.

Du Preez’s impressive juices stemmed from her passion for food and a desire to be on a fulfilling career path. She soon realized the demand for pressed juice in the area and within a year her business has expanded across the West Rand, with other companies even requesting their own signature juice.

“People automatically think juices are used for a detox and that they taste bad and that’s why I call my business ‘recreational juicing’ as the juice should replace cooldrink and be part of everyday life,” Du Preez explained.

With wanting to keep everything simple, the juices are essentially colour-coded to different vitamins to assist consumers on which juice to buy. The first and classic four juices were Du Preez’s own recipe and she is excited to share her creations in Muldersdrift. “If I see a demand during the week I will be happy to take up shop at Ngwenya or use it as a collection point for juice, as bottles of juice can last up to three days in the fridge,” Du Preez added.
