Wanted offenders arrested for murder and robbery

MULDERSRIFT - Police breakthrough in murder and robbery case.

Dedication and hard work by local detectives led to the arrest on Friday, 7 July, of two men who were wanted by the Police for robbery and murder.

According to the spokesperson for Muldersdrift Police, Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya, the two suspects, aged 34 and 39, attacked a man and woman in their home in the early morning hours of 16 June.

“The suspects shot the 26-year-old man multiple times, before shooting the woman in the lower body. The victims were apparently shot because they failed to hand over some cash,” said Ngwenya.

He added that the woman managed to escape and warn the neighbours. “The intruders made off with electrical appliances and other household items and fled the scene on foot,” said Ngwenya. The male victim succumbed to his injuries on the scene while the woman was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Sergeant Sam Manana and Constable Mncedisi Bambiso from Muldersdrift Police were appointed to investigate the case. “The two detectives worked tirelessly, meeting with members of the public to gather information of the whereabouts of the two murderers,” said Ngwenya.

He added that the hard work and awareness conducted in Lammermoor, Muldersdrift area by the West Rand Cluster Communication and Social Crime officials and other stakeholders paid off yesterday when the suspects were identified and apprehended.

Acting Station Commander Captain Boeti Phiri applauded the dedication and commitment exercised by all the role players that lead to the arrest of the two suspects. “These arrests will go a long way in ensuring the safety of communities in Muldersdrift,” said Capt Phiri.
